SHOW UP ON GOOGLE

Manny Valdivia - October 12, 2008
Your website is finally done. A friend of yours threw the site together for you. The website looks better than you imagined. Now 6 Months have passed and the site hasn't accomplished anything. You were expecting a huge increase in sales and customers. Why haven't any of your expectations been met? Why doesn't your site have any exposure?

The likely reason for your disappointing results is that your site does not show up on Google search results. Potential customers need to be able to find your site in Google when they are searching for the product or service you provide. Why Google? If we all had to live with one search engine, Google would be the obvious choice. If your site does not show up on Google, a lot of potential exposure is being lost. It is imperative that your site show up on Google.

There are simple methods to get your site indexed by Google. There are simple and difficult methods which will get your site added to Google's index. Three simple ways to get indexed are: submit directly to Google, get a website that shows up in Google's search results to link to your site, or write an article about a topic related to your site and submit it to article directories.

The easy way out is to submit your web site to Google's add url page, but it's not very effective. Your site, after a long wait behind the 1000s of sites which may be ahead of you, may not even get added. Google likes to find your site by following a link from a site already in their index.

The second method is to get a link to your website from a site or webpage already indexed. Google will then (at some point) crawl that site again and follow the backlink to your site, hopefully adding it at that point if they like what they find. The speed of this method is directly related to how high the page rank of the site is - the higher the page rank, the more frequently Google will revisit the site and follow the link to your site.

The best of the easy methods is to write a good article on a subject related to your web site's content. Articles have a resource box where the author's information (and a link to your site) is entered. Google frequently visits article directories in it's quest to find new content. When your article gets approved and added to the article directory, the link to your site will surely be found and followed by Google.

These 3 methods are simple and easy to implement. Once your site gets listed in Google search results, search engine optimization will be necessary so that the site show up as close to the top of the search results as possible. It is utterly crucial to show up in Google search results. Your web site's effectiveness depends on it.
