Does Google favor Bold?

First time when I heard this question I thought it's a little stupid. What difference can make a bold markup over an italic one?

I changed my mind after I watched Matt Cutts's video (the question is not stupid)..... His answer at this question is: "In general, we probably favor bold just a little bit more" - can you believe it??? And he adds that "it's so slight so we should not worry about it". Any kind of effect like that is relatively small. You will not see big differences in boosting.
